About the Artist

"I am a curious man by neture--unsatisfied with the status quo. y unsettled nature furthers my desire as an artist to avoid repeating myself or imitating others. I am consistently driven by the intense urge to pursue a sense of evolutionary change and growth in my artwork. The natural world is an infinite resource for arts. Every single art piece somehow rleates with our surrounding world, no matter classical or contemporary. The natural world is rich and colorful; it equally bestows great gifts to every artist if he/she is sensitive and honestly searching for visual contents within it. I enjoy working with subjects relating to the natural world. It consistently gives me the inspiration to create different types of art works from my early sketches, oil paintings, woodblock prints, Chinese ink paintings and my recent landscape paintings.

Also, painting is like playing a game to me-- a game visually dialogue with the nature. The player has to mentally be fully involved in the game for greatest pleasure. Creating a piece of art, just like playing a game. The canvas is the space for the game of visual dialogue. In the limited space, the artist manoeuvres the visual experience and creates a symbolic and unlimited visual feeling world by using different materials to conduct dots, lines, shapes, forms, colors, planes, spaces and structures as visual elements.

The human being's life is short. Most people cannot help but struggle under the daily pressure of political, social, and financial problems. Fortunately i am an artist and professor and do not need to deal with those problems and pressures. Art is not political, The revolution does not need to carry too much political and social responsibility and also artists should noe be driven by the art movements of their time or by different artistic isms.

Artists should be honest, simple, and delighted when they work on their art. Artists are the most fortunate people compared to most others in the world because their work is enjoying the pleasure of creating, producing and adjusting the visual orders of images and symbols on canvas. Artists use the heart to feel the surrounding world and to move the visual symbols by instinct. Artists are magicians and they create the spiritual nature through passion and surprise."
