Paintings

Romany Eveleigh’s paintings represent the continuing evolution of her abstract vision. With an emphasis on large planes of browns and ochres broken by one, two, or more marks, her work addresses the establishment of boundaries, the point of division between the individual and the infinite. These somber fields are like places -- spiritual retreats that calm and center the mind.

In the artist’s words, “what is consistently reductive and sparse about my paintings is not a sought-after end, but a sought-after beginning”. Her spare palate of earthen tones strike the viewer not as desolate but fertile. Her work is a celebration of the soil, the flesh, and the delicate line that divides or binds.
